Pastor Darwin was raised in a Christian home by his parents Earl and Lela Mowat in the Evart area. He was saved at 16 and at the age of 17 felt the call to the ministry.
Joan was raised in the Evart area also by her parents Fred and Erma Cascaddan. She began attending Pisgah Heights Wesleyan church when she was in 6th grade and gave her heart to the Lord when she was 12. Not being raised in a Christian home Joan used many spiritual women as her example.
Pastor Darwin and Joan met at church and became best friends as they worked together in the youth group. Later they realized that not only were they best friends but they loved each other, and got married April 8, 1978.
Pastor Darwin and Joan have 3 children: Bethany Joy (husband Aaron) Warner, Stephen (wife Michelle), and Valerie (husband Pete). They have 6 grandchildren, (Stephen and Michelle)Titus and Damaris Mowat, (Bethany and Aaron) Christiana and Darlah and (Valerie and Pete) Lily and Violet.
Pastor Darwin began preaching as a teenager and became pastor of his first church at the age of 23. Pastor Darwin brings 21 years of pastoral experience as both lead pastor, youth pastor along with holding revival meetings and speaking at various churches and other engagements.
They are very excited to be at the Lighthouse Free Methodist church and serving in the Barryton area and look forward to what God has planned.
